We're Brittanie Raquel Events, a wedding and event planning team based in Wilmington, NC who's goal is to make sure guests leave your event saying...
Weddings are one of the only times that all of the people who love and care for you are in one place, and it’s the only time you can treat all of them at once to an experience they can’t forget.
There’s three ways to upgrade an event into a “still-talking-about-it-six-years-later” type of experience.
If any of those three are over-the-top, round-the-clock showstoppers, then your guests are going to be talking about your event for a while, but if you go all out on all three, well, your guests won’t be able to forget.
We for one cannot possibly forget Tony and Courtney’s bold and boho fall wedding at The Kindred in Carolina Beach, NC.
Come see what we mean…
Tony and Courtney wanted to mix their styles in what they dubbed “Urban Boho.”
This meant pompous grass, bold fall colors incorporated beyond just the florals, and lots of non-traditional touches.
Everything from the lounge seating in the ceremony for the family in the front row (that was flipped into a statement lounge set for the reception) to the runway style ceremony seating made this wedding unique and iconic.
Courtney was an old-school girl with her binder full of magazine clippings and inspiration. This was the bible the team lived by, the original Pinterest.
Custom signs with their event’s branding (plus a custom monogrammed pillow for the lounge, a little surprise gift from the BRE team!), florals from floor to ceiling, and design touches down to the smallest detail brought the room to a Hollywood level of design,
For example, the color tassel on the guest’s placement card coordinated to their food option – a fun AND functional design. A love for details like that is what elevates an event to an experience like this!
Speaking of florals, they were such a statement that the arbor couldn’t hold them — it literally snapped in half! But don’t worry, we’re professionals at problem solving and put together a meadow-designed floral arrangement around the altar within minutes.
With this many moving parts, something is bound to happen so it’s all about moving quickly to a back-up plan just as beautiful as the original.
The food was majorly important to both Tony and Courtney, and they designed a menu that kept everyone happy and full. They decided to have a heavy cocktail hour full of Haitian (courtesy of Tony) and Southern flavors paired with a menu of cocktails and mocktails, so all of their guests could taste the party.
Food is one of the perfect ways to honor cultures and bring in all of your favorite flavors, and the flavors never slowed down at this wedding —- from a cocktail hour with stations, a huge grazing table, a plated dinner complete with table-side wine service, all the way up to a s’mores bar, coffee bar, and a dessert table full of candy with take home bags for their guests, everyone was left saying “I wish I had more room!”
(If the budget allows, we always recommend pairing a plated dinner with table-side wine service because it keeps guests seated and ready for when their food arrives, allowing service to be seamless and on time so we can get to the dancefloor.)
Another iconic moment? The wedding cake from Snacktime Sweets as a centerpiece in the room. It was a combination of two different design styles, with a clear acrylic layer paired with patterns that accented the design of the room — ah, chef’s kiss.
There’s another way to move the party up to the next level. If your guests’ eyes and stomach are already full, you can give them something to do —- and something to take home.
From the moment Tony and Courtney’s guests stepped onto the venue, they were immediately greeted by a Champagne Lady that directed them to the ceremony space. I mean I haven’t thought of a better way to say “this ain’t going to be your mother’s wedding.”
Drinks were always in hand, and music was always filling the space. A harp welcomed them into the ceremony, a jazz trio band played through the cocktail hour into the beginning of the reception, and a DJ cranked the party to ten to carry out the night. Music is one of the most impactful ways you can set the tone for each section of your day and let your guests know what to expect.
But I don’t think anyone expected Courtney to join a sudden flashmob during her reception! She had been secretly practicing with a dance group from Raleigh. When the time came, the dancers (dressed as waiters) entered the dance floor and started their routine. When Courtney joined, the room went wild. No one (except our team) had any idea it was coming and they went crazy for it.
BRE is always here for the big reveals. We know loose lips sink ships, so we keep it tight around here, so anything you want to show off, we’ll help make it BIG!
We’ll also help source vendors from anywhere, like the custom cigar roller we flew in from Miami to stock the reception with a variety of cigars that he rolled right in front of guests! They had the option to smoke them during the party and bring their extras home with them, an experience and a party favor.
The reveals kept coming with not only a second look, but A THIRD as well! Additional looks on the wedding day is a recent trend that helps keep the party fresh and duals as a way to get you into some more comfortable, casual, and stylish clothing — listen, we know it’s more fun to drop it low in something stretchy.
There’s nothing that says for your day to be memorable you have to hit high notes on every aspect of the wedding day, sometimes, you can make iconic moments with just a few key choices, and luckily, we know exactly what those key choices are — because we’re party professionals.
If you’re looking for ideas to take your wedding or event to the next level, we’re here to help! You can reach out to our team and get the party started here!!
