"That was ICONIC."

wilmington, north carolina

Mimi and Tripp knew they wanted three things — patterns (and lots of them), disco balls, and a fresh take on what it means to be coastal.

With the relaxed, yet elevated backdrop of the Carolina Yacht Club, their ceremony was intimate with only thirty guests, light floral arrangements, and limited seating — perfect for leaning into the ocean views and saving the budget for the full-on party later in the night.

Once the ceremony was over, the party began! While Mimi and Tripp and the thirty guests from the ceremony spent their cocktail hour on a boat, the rest of the guests arrived at the yacht club. They were welcomed into a separate cocktail hour complete with a pop-up bar designed using the same patterns and inspiration as Mimi and Tripp’s custom invitation suite, which actually inspired many of the elements throughout the day from the signage to the table numbers and menus.

The bar, live music, and oyster shucker with a raw bar were ready as soon as guests walked in so they could get right to celebrating the newlyweds!

The reception was full of italian garden vibes with patterned linens inspired by your Nonna’s dinner party, family-style seating, and smilax and moravian stars hanging throughout the space.

The floral centerpieces were designed by Mother of Wild. In order to fit within the available table space, she designed these green and wild looking centerpieces that are reminiscent of wild growth found on the edge of forest… or a manicured, Italian garden.

The night was not finished at dinner. There was one more surprise for the guests and the couple — Club Ziggy.

Draped in white, covered in up-lighting to further transform the space, disco balls, a custom neon sign, a stage for the band, and a bar dedicated to specialty martinis surrounded the dance floor. Club Ziggy was to let your hair down and party!

Mimi and Tripp were so fun to work with. We love a couple that wants to make a big statement with their designs and having the focus of incorporating their custom invitation suite design into the event’s design was a fun and exciting challenge. Plus, we LOVED making Club Ziggy. Room reveals are one of our favorite parts of the job.
