5 Wedding Trends That Took off in 2021

Weddings look incredibly different these days for all involved, regardless of whether you are a planner, a vendor, the couple getting hitched, or a loved one on the guest list. The wedding industry is one that shifted almost instantly to be able to accommodate as much as possible during the pandemic so couples could still have their special day. As chaotic as the time was, some pretty awesome new trends came from it! If you are looking to incorporate something fun and exciting into your wedding day, here are the top wedding trends that took off in 2021 that would be a great addition to your day.

1 : Unexpected Venues

Don’t have a conventional wedding venue? No problem at all! With an intimate guest list, couples are thinking outside of the box by marrying in nontraditional wedding venues and transforming some of their favorite neighborhood places into lasting memories on their wedding day. This can make your wedding day all the more special by choosing a location that truly has meaning behind it for the two of you.

2 : Micro Weddings

This year, we saw a rise in the micro wedding, an intimate wedding with fewer than 50 guests. There are many plus-sides to this new trend, from focusing on who is in attendance to the overall vibe of the event, which can be more personal and emotional. Since they are smaller scale, micro weddings are more cost-effective and allow the couples and guests to mingle and spend time together truly. Gone are the days of stressful wedding planning with a micro wedding!

3 : Neon Signs

A neon sign is a perfect addition to a photo backdrop, bar décor, or simply lighting up your reception space. The sign can display your new last name or a cute saying such as “Better Together” or your wedding hashtag. You can find endless different signs on the internet and social media to use as inspiration to create one that’s perfect for you. The best part about a neon sign is that it can be displayed in your home once your wedding is over.

4 : Pampas Grass

While they are most commonly used for boho-style weddings, their versatility allows them to be used for more modern and romantic themes as well. Pampas are easy to maintain, and their neutral colors make it easy to pair them with many other florals. The possibilities are endless for these beautiful stems. They make stunning centerpieces, add texture to bouquets, and are a wonderful way to dress up your ceremony and reception.

5 : Individualized Food Displays

Caterers are opting for a more personalized serving style—think individual plates and cones in lieu of charcuterie boards and family-style meals. This creates an even more intimate and custom dinner experience that most of your guests most likely haven’t seen before. You could even double the cone-style food display as a party favor for your guests to take home with them!

The wedding industry will constantly be changing and adapting, so staying on top of the latest trends is essential for everyone involved.
